I am a passionate photographer and believe that photography is a source of personal inspiration and expression where each image crafted holds an individual message for the creator and viewer alike. I love to shoot landscapes and portraits and have a great enthusiasm for leading landscape photography workshops, which allow me to teach the intricacies of photography to other enthusiastic photographers.
With over thirty years education experience working with the young, ‘not so young’ and young at heart, I endeavour to cater for people of all needs and experience – if you have the wish to learn; I have the desire to teach.
For me, photography provides an opportunity to creatively express a window into life. Through my landscape photography I aim to create an atmosphere, tell a story and capture the essence of the subject. I love to do this through special attention to colour, light and shapes; principles I also try to use in portrait photography. If an image can create an emotion in the viewer, if you can ‘see yourself’ there or if it sparks the memory of a special moment, then I have met my goal as a photographer.
I believe portraits, whether studio, location or travel, should capture the character and emotion of the subject. They should tell their story whether this be love, happiness, strength of a family, lifestyle, struggle and so on. Certainly, there is an important place for creatively posed portraits, but I love to capture those special moments found in candid shots; a cheeky smile, that sly sideways glance, the gaze of a child towards a parent.
I believe that whether it is with your family or individually, having your portrait taken should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. With this is mind my number one priority is YOU, the client, and I want you to feel comfortable from beginning to end and have a wonderful photographic experience.
